Travel Goals are certainly not something that used to be on my mind when a new year rolls around. However, I think goals in general can be very useful in helping you define priorities, and even for those of us who love spontaneous travel, it can be hard on one’s time and pocket. So before January runs out, I thought it would be expedient to give you an idea of our travel goals for 2014
I am already having TWS (Travel Withdrawal Symptoms) but they always say the first few months are the hardest, it will get better. The main reason for this is thinking about life in general and what’s next in terms of personal business, partner commitments, career/job changes etc. Also, the pocket issue. Other needs requiring money which trump travel, and also for travel itself. You can travel on a budget but it’s nice to splurge on luxury once in a while.
Explore Local cities
Living/Visiting in the UK has given us the opportunity to travel around the island. We’ve been to London, Slough, York, Doncaster, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Brighton, South-End, Essex, Cardiff, Birmingham, Coventry, Manchester, Stoke, Bath, Oxford, Peterborough, Hertfordshire e.t.c These can be very low cost and are really amazing because of the difference of experiences from one of these cities to the other. For those in Nigeria, you should do the same. A helpful blog for travel within Nigeria is Travel With Bimbo
Go to New Continents
Some of us plan to go Asia, where we’ve never been, properly! A friend of mine recently moved to Australia, this is a big possibility. There’s also the opportunity to go to South America, but after the World Cup I think (pocket matters). Personally can’t wait but I am not looking forward to the long hours sat in the air.
Travel For Friends & Family
As much as one loves to travel solo, I find it is necessary to take time out with family and friends. Most of these countries are older than your family and are likely to still be there when your parents are gone (for example) Don’t waste the opportunity to spend time with them. I am willing to travel from pillar to post just to make this happen.
So, that’s all from FollowFollow
Enjoy your 2014! xx
